AMS Case Study

Streamlining DDU Parcel Exports with Sendtek

About AMS

AMS is a leading customs brokerage in Australia,
specializing in managing and facilitating the import of goods from around the globe.

The Challenge

AMS sought to expand its service offerings by providing efficient and cost-effective DDU (Delivered Duty Unpaid) parcel export solutions.

Their existing process was hindered by several key challenges.

Lack of integrated HS Code classification

AMS lacked an automated system for determining Harmonized System (HS) codes, essential for accurate duty and tax calculation.

Costly and unreliable last-mile delivery

Previous reliance on external last-mile providers to provide a DDU solution resulted in high costs, lost revenue, returns or product destruction, refunds, outstanding postage fees and ultimately customer and consumer dissatisfaction.

No streamlined payment collection

The absence of an integrated payment gateway made it difficult to collect DDU fees from customers and it left a black hole to if customers would pay.

SendTek's Solution

Sendtek, with its flexible and agnostic approach to technology,
provided a comprehensive solution tailored to AMS’s needs.

HS Code Automation

Integration of HSPRO, a leading HS code classification API, automated the process of determining accurate HS codes for exported parcels

Seamless Payment Collection

DutyPlus®, a secure payment gateway, was integrated to facilitate efficient and timely collection of duties and taxes from customers. This enabled AMS to collect payments before parcels left Australia, generating revenue and improving cash flow.

Improved Customer Experience

By streamlining the DDU process, Sendtek helped AMS reduce parcel damage and returns, leading to increased customer satisfaction and a stronger reputation

Reduced Environmental Impact

The optimized process minimized unnecessary shipping and returns, contributing to a lower carbon footprint

Manifest Update:

Upon payment confirmation, the middle-mile manifest is updated.

04

Middle-Mile Shipping

AMS dispatches the parcel with the appropriate middle-mile carrier.

05
